We are determined to empower smallholder farmers to secure the future of their farms; We buy coffee directly from farmer groups in all major cocoa growing regions of Uganda, train and mentor farmers groups in healthy agricultural practices that ensure high yields and healthy cocoa farms that can bring profits for generations. We provide farmers quality cocoa seedlings and fruit to expand their produce and maximize capacity of their land by growing more. 10% of the profit we make selling processed cocoa beans goes back to the farmers.

As walk through the cocoa gardens of Mr. Henry Lwanga’s farm down in Kayunga, you won’t find yourself alone. You won’t go far without the proud farmer talking you through the history and the life of his cocoa farm. Through his boyhood when his grandfather ran the estate and cocoa was just a part of his daily adventure to how it grew into a passion that became his inheritance and livelihood as a man. You listen to his life story, so beautifully intertwined with the smooth taste and flavor of the roasted cocoa beans he offers you, you realize – this farm is his life and his pride.
‘For a farm to yield it’s best,’ he says, ‘the farmer must be its friend.’ – visit the farm daily, almost ceremoniously – as if to speak to his trees a word of encouragement and love. You pick up on his enthusiasm and the abundance of fruit on the trees is unmistakable – This will be a good year! The gardens are missing the usual bustle of strong young men and women eagerly cutting ripe fruit down from the trees and gathering around ceremoniously to harvest the beans from the pods. This is an event no one wants to miss. It’s a time to sing songs, work hard, celebrate a season and the dream of what lies ahead.

Monte’s Coffee
Growing up on a small coffee farm in western Uganda, I developed a passion for growing and drinking quality coffee. But farmers were not paid well for their hard work. I was moved to support them by buying their coffee for a fair price, processing it for export and giving back to them.
All our coffee comes from smallholder farms situated in the mountainous regions throughout Uganda. Each time you buy a bag of our coffee, you can be sure it has been picked, dried, roasted and packed with the greatest care ensuring only the best quality beans make it to your cup.
